People Are Good #1

It’s an age-old debate, are people inherently good or bad? Well, here at FACETS Business Solutions we believe people are generally good, so we are extremely excited to see a new nation-wide movement toward responsible citizenship, created and driven by the website www.peopleforgood.com. We understand that certain situations (losing a job, feeling unappreciated by a manager, feeling hungry, or feeling exhausted over doing bookkeeping and human resources – had to throw the last one in) cause stress and negative emotions, which sometimes leads to negative actions. This campaign of doing nice things for others is just the motivation we need to be aware of the people around us, and our actions toward them. Doing good deeds will not go unnoticed (we bet you, you’ll get more smiles and appreciation than you’ve ever had).

Visit the site www.peopleforgood.com and read the many stories posted by people being good to people. From simply saying hello on the street, and recognizing neighbours as an important part of the community, to going out of one’s way to care for the sick, mowing a neighbour’s lawn, or delivering an elderly’s groceries, Peoleforgood.com is motivating citizens to share their stories and act as responsible citizens.

Peopleforgood.com states “Studies show that when you do something nice for someone, it gives you a natural high that can last for weeks, even months.” With this, they’ve asked five Canadians to do one good deed per day for seven days, and document it for the site – watch the videos here: www.peopleforgood.ca/#Videos. We’re amazed at what we’ve seen: people are being nicer, kinder, gentler, and they’re doing virtuous deeds conscientiously. Taking the time to visit the elderly, or taking earphones out to say good morning to strangers, isn’t unusual but it’s not usual either. This campaign is promoting good deeds to be the common denominator, rather than the thing to do occasionally.

What have you done lately that’s a good deed? A kind action that’s generous and genuine, from the heart? Let us know.
